First whisky memory

A work colleague trying to introduce me to whisky in Vancouver in the mid-90s. I think it was an Oban and it didn’t take (my fault, not Oban’s).

Favourite whisky-drinking music

Like choosing a whisky, it depends on the mood. The only music I find doesn’t mix well with whisky is heavy metal.

Best box sets

For music, I was born in the 60s, so any box set of classic rock/funk from the 70s through 90s will do. For video, Craig Ferguson’s run on The Late, Late Show..

Fantasy whisky tasting companions Not to sound like I’m sucking up, but our Canadian SMWS members. Between Holyrood distillery commitments and lockdown, it’s been way too long.

Most memorable dram Balvenie 30 on the top of the Eiffel Tower with Kelly.

Most used emoji The visual expression of ‘good grief’! 🙄

Guilty pleasure A wee steak once every four to six months.

Dream destination Denmark and many other places in Europe, or New Zealand.

Strangest food

Blood pudding. Who ever thought that was a good idea?

Favourite bar Any place with a good selection of craft beer and proper nachos (which don’t seem to exist in the UK). Or The Vaults (who do I lobby for inclusion of nachos on The Vaults menu?)

If you were a flavour profile, what would you be, and why? If I get to be a flavour profile, I would be ’Wry and Dry’.
