ABOVE: Capturing a very special bottling on Harris
A dramtastic time
It’s the run-in to the festive season and if you haven’t made your list or thought about getting your tree up, it’s time to get your skates on.
Wherever you fall on the Scrooge scale or if Christmas really is your most wonderful time of the year, at least you might get a moment to pause and relax before the year is over. And I hope we can help you find something entertaining to fill a quiet moment to yourself.
The highlight for me this month is being able to dig into the story behind the Isle of Harris distillery, and how their first independent release has gone into Society bottles. It’s a tremendous distillery, run by a fantastic team, and the whisky is testament to the great things happening on Tarbert.
Elsewhere I’ve been wrapping up our full year of sherry-soaked coverage, reflecting on our journeys across Spain and the chance to meet the people and visit the places that help to create the Society’s superb sherry cask-matured drams – the perfect whiskies for Christmas.
And it’s also been a pleasure to take a trip down memory lane with this, the 100th issue of Unfiltered magazine. I can’t quite believe I’ve been involved in one way or another with the Society’s members magazine since issue two at the start of 2009. The good news is that as we head into 2025, you can expect to see a return to print with Unfiltered and a chance to relax with the physical magazine in your hands, not only on your digital device.
Wherever you are, and whatever’s in your glass, I hope you have a wonderful festive season and a great new year when it comes.
Here’s to many more whisky adventures in 2025.
Cheers,
