Embrace whisky season

Love it or loathe it, there’s no escaping it – we’re heading well into autumn here in Scotland, and that means winter is very much on the horizon.

At least in our whisky world, that brings us even more reasons to appreciate a warming single malt, and this year The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is celebrating the season with a very special Winter Series, which you can read all about in this month’s magazine.

Elsewhere, we meet some of the lucky members who won our amazing competition to travel to our Members’ Rooms in Edinburgh from around the world as part of our annual Gathering events. What a prize!

And we also have stories from a couple of Society adventurers – first from our long-standing ambassador Olaf on an epic SMWS whisky tasting tour of his homeland in Germany, and also from the incredible explorer and motivational speaker Nigel Vardy, who recalls how important membership of the SMWS has been to him on his expeditions over the years.

Look out for the bottlings from our Winter Series when they come your way, or find another suitable Society dram to ease yourself out of autumn.
