ABOVE: A floral setting for Whispers of Spring, our latest Creators Collection release
April adventures
April feels like the month when whisky activity really seems to ramp up – and when I look at what’s happening throughout this month and heading into May, there’s a lot to get your head around.
Our ‘Adventures in Flavour’ theme is in full effect, with the drop of six new releases here in the UK in our Two to One series of ultra small-batch bottlings. I caught up with head of whisky creation Euan to find out more about the concept and what to expect from this innovative range.
We’re also heading towards festival season here in Scotland, with the Spirit of Speyside kicking off before the month is over. The Society will be there for both a special foraging event as well as an Old & Rare tasting with Olaf at the Craigellachie Hotel – both are bound to be fantastic adventures, first in the Speyside countryside and then on the palate.
April also sees the release of our latest Creators Collection, with Whispers of Spring: A journey of reawakening. Duncan has the lowdown on this amazing quartet – this is something very special, with whiskies from 27 through to 35 years old, each one beautifully aged but bringing wonderful spring vibes and with gorgeous colourful labels.
And finally, if we were trying to find a better example of ‘Adventure in Flavour’, we couldn’t have done much better than the story of Kwabena Peprah and his friends from Ghana. They ended up having to bury their stash of Society whisky during a road trip through Iraq. Yes seriously. And as far as he knows, the whisky is still out there somewhere…
You don’t need to go quite that far to find your own whisky adventure this month – here’s hoping we have something for everyone this April.
Cheers,
