ABOVE: Get your year off to the right start with the Society
A taste for adventure
Happy New Year and I hope this finds you well rested, having enjoyed some special Society drams over the festive season, and now ready to embrace the year ahead.
We’ve already been busy thinking about everything we want to get up to in 2025. The focus for our entire year is all about adventures in whisky – and that could mean adventures in the pursuit of different flavour experiences, or it could also mean taking our whisky off the beaten track and experiencing and bringing it to life in various ways.
We know that for many of our international members – and also for those closer to home who haven’t had the pleasure of visiting The Vaults, or even a distillery – a trip to Edinburgh and then onto one of our whisky regions is guaranteed to take your passion for whisky to the next level. So we’re delighted to kick off January with Tom Smith’s account of leading a group of members from the US on an epic tour of Scotland late last year. You’ll really want to be there with them.
Mads Schmoll has some of her own suggestions for getting your whisky year off to a great start. And we’re celebrating everything we love about The Vaults and our spiritual home in Leith with the launch of a new Creators Collection release later this month – you can read all about that and meet the artist behind the amazing ‘Homecoming’ labels in this issue.
Of course it’s also Burns Night at the end of the month, so it’s time to brush up on the Bard’s connection with whisky, and think about getting hold of the right bottle for your Burns Supper.
Who said January was all doom and gloom? Not at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society!
Cheers,
